Essex Pension Fund appoints Prudential as new AVC co-provider
For active members of the LGPS there are provisions for increasing your retirement lump sum or pension or both. One of these provisions is by paying Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) enabling you to pay contributions through deductions from your salary and receive immediate tax relief. Essex Pension Fund has appointed Prudential from 1 July to join Standard Life as its co-provider of AVCs.
If you are a taxpayer you could make a considerable difference to your retirement with a sizeable contribution from the taxman, even if retirement is only a relatively short time away.
Additional benefits include taking your AVC fund as a tax free lump sum or buying extra pension within the Local Government Pension Scheme: the latter becomes index linked along with your main LGPS pension.
Please see 5 good reasons to choose AVCs for a general introduction as to what AVCs can do for you or for more detailed information, please click on the following link to visit the Local Government AVC website set up with Prudential where you can also request an information pack.
If after visiting the website www.pru.co.uk/localgovavc you have questions or would like to start making AVCs please call the dedicated Local Government AVC team in Reading on Freephone 0800 731 0466.
