Essex Pension Fund has picked up the prize for Fund of the Year (Above £2 Billion) at the 20th Anniversary LGC Investment Awards, held at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London.

The best local authority finance teams and pension funds were recognised with a coveted LGC Investment Award at the prestigious gala dinner at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London, on Wednesday 11 December 2013.

The night brought together the key industry players to reward and recognise the most innovative initiatives and deserving individuals in the local authority pensions and investment sector.

Emma Maier, Editor, LGC commented:

'It has been another tough year for everyone involved in the local government investment world. And next years the challenges will continue.

It is heartening to see local government rising to the challenge. This was reflected in the entries we received, and in our winners and finalists.

Congratulations to all those organisations shortlisted for this year's awards and of course to those who will emerge this evening as the overall winners."

The big winner on the night was Essex County Council's Essex Pension Fund who took home Fund of the Year (Above £2 billion).

Now in their 20th year, The LGC Investment Awards are the only awards devoted to acknowledging and rewarding exceptional achievement in local authority pensions and investment. The categories recognise accomplishments across different markets and for the quality of their funds, administration, service and corporate governance.
